Ought / sujeto / to + bare infinitive ( forma verbal sin el “to”)
Ought he to know that by now?
|
* In negative
sentences, we will use “ought not to” or less frequently “oughtn’t to”.
The negative form is used most especially in a
formal context:
Ought not
Christ to have suffered these
things, and to enter into his glory?
<<Luke
24:26>>
“Oughtn´t “ use is widely spread
in question tags:
We ought to pay
his part, oughtn’t we?
|
* En las frases
negativas, usaremos “ought not to” o menos
frecuentemente
“oughtn’t
to”.

contextos formales:

We ought to pay
his part, oughtn’t we?
Traducimos:
Deberíamos pagar su parte, ¿no es así? ( no estas
deacuerdo?).

In the past form…
“Ought”
as all the modal verbs has no past form.

participle
They
ought
to have consulted
us in order to take that decision.

En tiempo pasado…
“Ought”
Ought to / have / participio
pasado
They
ought
to have consulted
us in order to take that decision.
(Ellos)
Deberían
habernos consultado para tomar esa
decisión.
